Thing #3 - ok this time for real
Thing three is to tell what I did to make my very own blog...
I liked that it wasn't as hard as I thought that it would be. I think that the hardest part was deciding what to call it. After I thought that up, everything else was easy. I loved trying out all the different types of backgrounds. I know that having the books in the background is a little predictable, but I LOVE books. I also decided to add the shelfari because a friend told me how neat it was to have on her site. If I ever really get good at this I would like to be able to share what I am reading with my kids. I still need to find a picture to add to my profile, but I tend to delete any of me. Pictures will come soon. :)

Thing #2 - Lifelong learners part 2
The hardest of the 7 and 1/2 things to be a lifelong learner for me would have to be viewing problems as challenges. I like to think that I enjoy a challenge. However, I think that I really like to know that a challenge is on its way rather than to be surprised by it. I am not much on surprises. I know that I will eventually get over the shock and move into problem solving mode, but I think that I need to work on the speed at which I accept the problem as a challenge.
Thing #2 - Lifelong Learners
I think that or at least I hope that I will always love to learn. As part of one of my classes for graduate school, I was asked to create this blog. It is step three in the list of 23 Things I need to do. Step 2 had me watch a video of the 7 and 1/2 things that Lifelong learners do. I have to say that I completely agree that being and making lifelong learners requires that you put the learner first. I think the easiest of all the steps in the viedo would be to play. I firmly believe that the best way to learn is to find something fun in the task. Mary Poppins said it best - "In every job that must be done there is an elemet of fun. You find the fun and snap - the job is a game" As educators we need to find the fun in our teaching and try to remember that just because it is fun doesn't mean that learning isn't going on.
